MORE visitors!

IMPORTED POST FROM OLD BLOG. ORIGINAL DATE: 02/10/2007

One of the nice things about living in a picturesque town near the sea and our wood is that it's a popular place for people to come and visit. So.... on Thursday we had Seymour and Helen from church visit, and discover that there was more to woodlands than they though. Then on Friday Alex, a friend of mine from my old workplace visited for the day. And after that, Neil and Wendy, friends from Oxford, visited over Saturday night, and Tracy's friend Amanda visited for the day on Saturday. So it was a busy weekend!

All our weekend visitors had a go at making stakes with the side axe, for use in building woodpiles:

Neil and I went to build the woodpiles, while the girls went to fell a silver birch....

Actually, I'm being a little unfair there, as the tree Neil and I felled also got hung up in the trees - we just didn't get a photo of it! It'll be a lot easier when we work a large area over the winter.

Then we all had a rest while we admired Neil's sawing:

We finished the day off with dinner and beer round a fire, and stayed in the wood till it got dark - a good day in all!
